North America fund sales highest ever, says IMA
North America and Absolute Return swooped back to the top of the IMA sector sales charts for February, although Japan also saw strong inflows just before its recent earthquake.
The North America sector in particular witnessed its highest sales on record, with £222m in net sales.
It moved up from 25th in January to rank fourth behind the Global sector, which was the best selling equity sector with £223m of net sales and third overall.
Japan was the third best-selling equity sector, on £185m, just before the recent earthquake, which caused sharp falls in the Japanese stockmarkets.
In the non-equity sectors, Absolute Return made an even bigger comeback than North America. It rose from 31st place last month to place second behind £ Strategic Bond, with £225m in net sales.
The best-selling sector was £ Strategic Bond, up one place from last month with £272m in sales. Cautious Managed came fifth, up from seventh place in January.
Net retail sales overall were £1.9 billion, the average for the last 12 months.
