Fulcrum offshore fund reduced to sell rating by Bestinvest

The Fulcrum Alternative Beta fund has been reduced to a one-star sell rating by Bestinvest.

The fund has been reduced after Bestinvest claimed the challenging market environment would make the hedge fund-type returns it aims to deliver difficult.

Analyst Robert Harley says: “We do not envisage a material change in this market backdrop, consequently we believe that investors should consider selling this fund in favour of more manager specific strategies that have proved to be more resilient against the current market conditions. As a result the fund rating is reduced to one star.

“Alternative funds to consider include the Legg Mason Global Credit Absolute Return and the Standard Life Global Absolute Return Strategies.”
