Lucas Papademos is the next prime minister of Greece
Lucas Papademos has been officially named as the next prime minister of Greece and will lead the unity government.
The former head of the European Central Bank will assume the role following the resignation of George Papandreou last week, with the new government to be sworn in on Friday (November 11).
Papademos will now head an interim government as Greece prepares to accept the £111 billion bailout package that prompted Papandreou to promise the electorate a referendum.
The new government will work to implement decisions agreed at the eurozone summit last week and deliver the economic policy needed to deliver on the programme.
