M&G to launch Episode Defensive fund
Asset manager M&G is to launch the M&G Episode Defensive fund – to be managed by Eric Lonergan – as part of its rebranded multi asset fund range.
The new fund – considered by M&G to have the lowest risk attached – will target investors with lower volatility appetite who wish to access the multi-asset strategy managed by Dave Fishwick and his team.
The rebranded multi-asset range will see a number of funds renamed with the Episode branding. The M&G Income Multi Asset fund will become the M&G Episode Income fund; the M&G Cautious Multi Asset fund will be renamed M&G Episode Balanced; and the M&G Managed fund will become the M&G Episode Growth fund.
The M&G Macro Episode fund, co-managed by Lonergan, will become the M&G Episode Macro fund, completing the Episode range.
Andrew Watson, head of advisory and partnerships at M&G, says: “Clients told us they liked the approach employed by the multi asset team but wanted it tailored to a range of risk appetites. We designed the fund range to give advisers access to the team’s asset allocation process, regardless of the investment objectives and risk profile of their client.” (article continues below)
According to M&G, the Episode Defensive and Episode Macro funds will be able to take long and short positions in a range of assets and when the fund managers have no market views, the funds will be invested in cash.
