Polar hires global team for fund launch

Polar Capital has hired a long-only global equity team in preparation for the launch of a global equity fund during the coming months.

The asset manager hired its eleventh equity team with the addition of Andy MacKirdy and Christophe Williams this month.

MacKirdy, formerly of Lansdowne Partners and Baillie Gifford, and ex-Hermes investment manager Williams will work alongside North American fund manager Andy Holliman.

Tim Woolley, chief executive of Polar Capital, says Holliman has an established reputation for global equities.

He adds: “The three previously worked together at the outset of their investment careers and are now united again to form a strong and experienced team.”

The fund is set to be launched in the coming months and is to be targeted at the institutional market.
