Aviva Investors bolsters convertibles team

Aviva Investors has appointed Justin Craib-Cox as a fund manager on the convertible bonds team.

Craib-Cox joins from M&G Investments, where he was an analyst on the European equities team.

He joins Aviva Investors in the summer and will provide support to David Clott and Shawn Mato, both senior fund managers across the convertibles range.

In April, Avivia added a global convertibles fund to its absolute return range. (article continues below)

The Global Convertibles Absolute Return was launched as a Sicav last November and is now registered for sale in Britain.
Clott and Mato are running this latest addition to the range, alongside the flagship long-only £1 billion-plus Global Convertibles fund and a global arbitrage strategy.

Tom Wills was the third member of the team but he left the group in February to join Morgan Stanley.

Clott says as global markets come out of recession, investors are looking for opportunities to generate strong risk-adjusted returns. Convertible bonds, he says, give investors exposure to upward market movements while at the same time protection from the downside.
