Google launches US advice service

Search engine giant Google has launched an online advice service in the US.

The “Google advisor” website, launched yesterday, allows investors to search and compare financial offers from a range of providers.

It remains unclear whether Google will look to launch a similar service in the UK.

  • Hope that they do, but suspect it will fail. Brits prefer to whinge and complain. Individuals taking responsibility for their own actions which is what it would amount to is against everything the regulator stands for, and all the systems for compensation it has put in place.
Moreover it could create an atmosphere of freedom, innovation and development - and that again is against what the FSA has tried to achieve.
Moreover, after a wee while, individuals may just start to ask for whose benefit the market exists.
So then the public can get back to whinging and complaining. And the media would have a real heyday digging out the scandals and causing paranoia amongst investors.
So, yes, hope they do, because there could, for a short time at least be some real fund and games in financial matters, to keep the advisers amused when individuals realise how badly providers run things. Look forward to it.
