Aberdeen chief joins British Sky Broadcasting board
Aberdeen Asset Management chief executive Martin Gilbert has joined the board of FTSE 100-listed broadcaster British Sky Broadcasting.
He has been joined on the board by Matthieu Pigasse, chief executive of Lazard France, as the pair replace non-executive directors Allan Leighton and David Evans.
James Murdoch, chairman of British Sky Broadcasting, says: “They will bring wide-ranging expertise, complementing and adding to the existing skills of our Board. We look forward to welcoming them to BSkyB.”
Murdoch, an executive director of News Corporation, said although its bid for the broadcaster had been withdrawn recently - amid the phone-hacking scandal that resulted in the closure of the News of the World newspaper - the copmany remained “committed” as a long-term shareholder of Sky.
