New chief for HSBC Global Asset Management

Sridhar Chandrasekharan has been named as chief executive of HSBC Global Asset Management after incumbent John Flint was appointed to a new role within the banking group.

John Flint will become chief of staff to Stuart Gulliver, the group chief executive of HSBC Holdings. He will take up the role on January 1, subject to the usual board and regulatory approvals.

Sridhar Chandrasekharan has been named as Flint’s successor in HSBC Global Asset Management chief executive slot. Chandrasekharan, who joined the company in 1993, is currently its global head of wholesale.

In addition, Antonio Simoes will become the company’s head of retail banking and wealth management in Europe, which is a newly-created position, at the start of next year. He is currently group head of strategy and planning for the asset manager.
