Morning markets: Intercontinental Hotels slips in early trading

Intercontinental Hotels Group was the biggest faller as the FTSE 100 retreated in early trading.

The Holiday Inn owner saw its share price fall by 2.6% (at 0805 GMT) to 1,322p, as the FTSE 100 dropped lower after a strong performance in the previous session.

Intercontinental was joined at the bottom by steelmaker Evraz, which saw its share price fall by 2.2% to 447.3p, while microchip manufacturer Arm Holdings slipped 2% to 586p.

Miners Rio Tinto and Antofagasta both dropped, down 1.6% to 3,830p and 1.5% to 1,369p, respectively.

The biggest riser early on (at 0804 GMT) was Man Group, up 1.1% to 119.6p. It was joined at the top by supermarket giant Tesco, which climbed 0.6% to 325p.

Imperial Tobacco Group increased by 0.4% to 2,261p, Financial Times publisher Pearson rose 0.3% to 1,180p and International Power climbed 0.2% higher to 329.8p.
