US GDP growth accelerates in fourth quarter
The latest GDP figures from the US reveal that GDP growth accelerated during the fourth quarter of 2011.

Fourth quarter growth was an improvement on a disappointing showing of 1.8% reported during the third quarter, but was still below consensus forecasts of 3.1%.

The growth outlook for the US remains at 1.8% for 2012, according to the World Economic Outlook update.
